Muscle Relaxants

Since the introduction of muscle relaxants, they have become an increasingly popular way to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. Quick, safe and highly effective, muscle relaxants are particularly beneficial when used to reduce lines and wrinkles on the forehead, crows feet at the sides of the eyes and frown lines.

What are the benefits of muscle relaxants and who are they suitable for?

Muscle relaxants are ideal for men and women of any age who want to reduce facial lines and wrinkles. They work best on the lines of the forehead, crows feet and frown lines, and can either significantly reduce or completely eliminate lines in the area being treated. Because this is a relatively painless, affordable, non-surgical cosmetic procedure that has very few risks and side effects, it has become very popular in recent years and is sometimes referred to as a non-surgical facelift.

What does this treatment involve?

A small amount of the muscle relaxant solution is injected through a fine needle into the area being treated. This temporarily relaxes the muscle, which in turn prevents the muscle from causing creases or wrinkles in the skin.

How long does it take?

Muscle relaxant injections usually only take 15 – 20 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

What results can I expect from muscle relaxants and how long do the results last for?

The effects are gradual and it can take 7 – 10 days for the full effects to be seen. The effects of muscle relaxant injections usually last for about 4 – 5 months.

What is the recovery time following muscle relaxant injections?

Because this is a non-surgical procedure, no recovery time is necessary and you may return home immediately and carry on your activities as usual.

Do muscle relaxants carry any associated risks or side effects?

There may be mild swelling, blotchiness or bruising in the treated area but this will settle within a few days. The treated area should not be massaged for a couple of hours after the treatment, as this could displace the muscle relaxants into unwanted areas.

Can muscle relaxants be used in conjunction with other treatments?

Muscle relaxants can be used alongside dermal fillers and other cosmetic procedures. If you are considering other cosmetic procedures, we can provide you with advice during your consultation.
